Significantly hotter than stock vintage output with killer tone for modern blues, rock and country stylists (yes this a left handed version of the set favored by Brad Paisley). Designed for an aggressive sound with a bit of grit. This superbly hand made pickups set consists of one bridge pickup and one neck pickup, brand new in the original factory box. The bridge pickup has all .632" height level Broadcaster style Alnico V poles except for a slightly raised .650" D pole for better string balance. In my opinion bridge pickups with this Hybrid magnet stagger work best with a 8.5" or greater radius fingerboard. If you've got a Tele with a rounder board you should check out the Blues Specials with a '60s magnet stagger. Other bridge pickup features include black fibreboard coil form, 42 gauge Polynylon insulated coil wire wound to approximately 7.3K, black waxed string coil wrap, careful wax potting to reduce microphonics, copper clad steel bottom plate and cloth covered output leads. The neck pickup has no traditional cover and was voiced to deliver the punch and throb of a vintage Strat pickup. If you've never been a fan of the traditional Tele metal covered neck pickup you really ought to give this one a spin. Other features of the Blues Special Tele neck pickup include Alnico V magnets with a raised D pole for better string balance, black fibreboard coil form, 42 gauge Poly Nylon coil wire to around 7.5K and cloth covered output leads. This set has an RW/RP relationship (bridge pickup wound clockwise, neck pickup wound counterclockwise, reversed magnetic polarity) for hum cancellation when used in combination (typically position two on a CRL 1452 three-way pickup selector switch). This set also works great with Fender's cool four-way pickup selector switch; you get hum cancellation in position two (parallel combination) and position four (series combination). I'm crazy about about the thicker, more distorted tone of the Fralins in series but Lindy finds this hookup too dirty for his tastes.
