Lindy Fralin Broadcaster Tele Pickups 5%/2% Overwound
Set
consists of one bridge pickup and one neck pickup, brand new in the
original factory box! Bridge pickup overwound 5%, neck pickup overwound
2% for significantly hotter than stock output. Both pickups feature
black fibreboard coil forms, alnico magnets, vintage style enameled
magnet wire and Fralin's world class hand craftsmanship. The bridge
pickup features flat/level alnico magnets as found on the earliest (up
to early '54...) Broadcasters, Telecasters and Esquires. Other bridge
pickup features include black waxed string coil wrapping, careful wax
potting for reduction of microphonics, copper clad steel bottom plate
and cloth covered output leads. The neck pickup sports a traditional
chrome plated cover. This set has an RW/RP relationship (bridge wound
clockwise, neck wound counterclockwise, reversed magnetic polarity...)
for hum cancelling when used in combination (typically position two on
a CRL 1452 three-way pickup selector switch). This set also works great
with a Fender/CRL/Oak four-way pickup selector switch. For optimum
shielding/grounding there are three wires on the neck pickup; the usual
two wires from the coil and a separate isolated ground wire soldered to
the tab on the bottom of the metal cover. Simply solder this additional
ground wire from the tab on the neck pickup cover to the back of the
volume pot where the other ground wires are soldered together. We
include hookup diagrams for both three-way and four-way operation. By
the way, the four-way switch allows you to combine the pickups in
series for a thicker, louder, slightly more distorted sound (I
generally wire my Teles this way...Lindy finds this hookup TOO
dirty...). Good mounting hardware is included.
As with all pickups, more turns of wire gives more power, thicker mids
and less highs.
