Lindy Fralin Blues Special Hybrid Custom Tele Pickups Set
Set consists of one bridge pickup
and one neck pickup, brand new in the original factory box. Significantly hotter than stock vintage output. The vintage style neck pickup is overwound 2% to balance with the Blues Special bridge pickup. KILLER upgrade for
'60s-'90s Teles with thin, wimpy or 'ice picky' pickups. Both pickups
feature black fibreboard coil forms, Alnico V magnets and Fralin's world class hand craftsmanship. The Blues Special Hybrid bridge pickup features include Fralin's Hybrid magnet stagger with a slightly higher D pole for better string balance with flatter modern fingerboards (9&1/2" or so...), Polynylon magnet wire, waxed string
coil wrapping, careful wax potting for reduction of microphonics,
copper clad steel bottom plate and cloth covered output leads. The vintage style neck
pickup sports a traditional chrome plated nickel silver cover and is overwound 2% with vintage style enamel magnet wire. This set
has an RW/RP relationship (bridge wound clockwise, neck wound
counterclockwise, reversed magnetic polarity...) for hum cancelling
when used in combination (typically position two on a CRL 1452
three-way pickup selector switch). This set also works great with a
Fender/CRL/Oak four-way pickup selector switch. For optimum
shielding/grounding there are three wires on the neck pickup; the usual
two wires from the coil and a separate isolated ground wire soldered to
the tab on the bottom of the metal cover. Simply solder this additional
ground wire from the tab on the neck pickup cover to the back of the
volume pot where the other ground wires are soldered together. Upon
request with your purchase we'll include hookup diagrams for both
three-way and four-way operation. By the way, the four-way switch
allows you to combine the pickups in series for a thicker, louder,
slightly more distorted sound (I generally wire my Teles this
way...Lindy finds this hookup TOO dirty...). Good mounting hardware is
