Lindy Fralin 8% Overwound Pickups Set For Fender Precision Bass
Set of 8% overwound vintage style Precision Bass split coil pickups brand new in the box. Exact replacement pickups set for most '57-present Fender Precision Basses. This set is much hotter than stock vintage output. Construction features include Alnico V magnets, black fibreboard coil forms, '50s style orange Formvar coil wire, black plastic pickup covers and cloth covered output leads. Just like the old Fenders the Fralin coils have an RW/RP (reverse wind/reverse magnetic polarity) relationship for a humbucking effect and are wired in series. I measured 11.64K ohms across the output leads on a sample set; that's way hotter than the stock pickups in my great sounding original '59. The bottom line? This set will sound louder and darker than stock vintage wound pickups. If you're using an old tube head (e.g. Marshall Super Bass, Sunn, Fender Bassman etc.) without a Preamp or Master Volume control and you want to drive the input into distortion for an agressive 'in your face' hard rock/heavy metal/punk sound this set may be just what you're looking for.
As with all pickups, more turns of wire gives more power, thicker mids
and less highs.
